Hello World! My name is Monique Threadgill and I currently reside in Broken Bow, Oklahoma. I am originally from a very small town, well…more like a community that goes by the name Tom. You will rarely find it on the map, but that small town plays a big part of the woman I am today. I grew up in church my whole life, but the relationship that I have with Jesus right now has not always been so. Going to church and believing there’s a God is one thing. Having a relationship with Jesus is a whole different experience. One that you will never regret!
The idea of becoming a blogger came to me early in 2019. During the time, I didn’t know exactly what type of blogger I wanted to be. On one hand was the idea of a Beauty & Fashion blog. On the other hand, I wanted to do something that will have an impact on people’s lives. I definitely do not want to underrate Beauty & Fashion bloggers because there are some amazing bloggers in that category that are extremely good at what they do and have a positive impact on people in their own way. As much as I love fashion and beauty, I just knew that is not what feeds my soul.
2019 was the year I lost my dad. March 1st to be exact. That was the hardest thing I have ever gone through in my lifetime. I leaned on God more than ever during that time, not just for me but also for my family. Ecclesiastes is one Book in the Bible that I have read countless of times. In chapter 7 verse 14 it states: “Remember that nothing is certain in this life”; this verse did not truly hit me until I lost my dad. My dad was sick for several months, in and out of hospitals and Dr. offices, so I just knew “for certain” that this last time he went to the hospital he was going to get out and be okay because he always came back home. But that was before the lab results came back. That was before the doctor told him that his heart was in its last stage.
While I was grieving the death of my dad, I began to question my purpose in life. I began to dig deep for answers and sometimes in the wrong things. Besides reading my bible and devotionals, I was also on social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram all the time. I use to be the girl that looked on Instagram and ask, what can I do to get like them. But later I would grow into the woman that asks, what can I do to get more like Jesus. Majority of us should know by now that life on social media and reality is not always the same. I realized I didn’t want my my purpose to be to please people but rather live out God’s will. I wanted what He wants for my life.
Around the end of last year, I decided to take a week off from social media. I went to work during the day, but those evenings belonged to me and God. It was within that one week that God revealed my purpose and spiritual gift. All I had to do was sit still long enough and get rid of any distractions that was keeping me from the truth. He revealed to me the spiritual gift of encouragement. The crazy thing is, I’ve been having that gift all along and never knew it was an actual gift. My purpose is to use that gift by spreading encouragement, motivation, inspiration and of course, God’s Word. The best way to live out God’s purpose is through His Son Jesus Christ.
My Mission with this blog is to help change lives as God has changed mine. I want my readers and I to become a community and be a support to one another in this thing called life.
Welcome to my blog, Girl On A Mission!

I’m so proud of the woman you have grown up to become. I’m ready to follow your journey in this thing called life. With god on ours sides nothing is hard to handle.

Thank you sis. You are definitely right about nothing being too hard with God on our side. We humans tend to make things too hard by thinking in our flesh rather in the Spirit of God. As long as I’m here, I can and will help you on your spiritual journey. We can do it together. : )

Thank You Tara. I remember saying to God to let His will be done in My life. I can’t do life without him. God has something for each of us, and what I chose to do was submit and obey. Thank God for Jesus giving me the strength and wisdom I need for this blog. I definitely could not do it without him helping along the way. Thank you for reading.

Thank you Aunt Lisa. That means so much to me. You’re right, I can’t worry about what anyone say. What I do is between me and God, not between me and people. Thank you for reading and I love you too.
