Hello everyone! Welcome back to my blog to my recurring readers and any new readers, welcome to Girl on a Mission Blog! On a mission for what you may ask? To help the other kingdom workers bring souls to Christ. My assignment? Blogging for Jesus.
Today’s blog will be something that many people wonder about, “How to have a relationship with God”? It starts with Jesus.
Start with Jesus
Let me to you all a little bit about Jesus. His main reasoning for coming into this world was to save His fallen human race from sin and death. It is through Him that you may be saved. It is through Him that you may have eternal life. It is through Him that you may have relationship.
Jesus name in Hebrew is Yeshua, which means “Salvation”.
If you want to have a relationship with God, you have to first repent and accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior. And continue abiding in Him and Him in you. (John 15:4)
Jesus is the Truth that will set your soul free of sin and eternal death.
John 14:6
Do you want to be free and walk in close relationship with God?
Study the Bible
In order to be in a relationship with someone, you need to know that person. Likewise, if you want to be in relationship with God, you need to know His Word.
When you read the Bible, do not read it out of obligation. There is no reward from that. Read it because you want to get to know God. His Word will help you, strengthen you, guide you and give you hope throughout life.
Tip: Get you a Bible that you can understand. My first Bible that I bought myself was the New Living Translation because I could not understand the King James Version during the time. But now I have four different versions that I study from. NLT, NIV, KJV, and recently, the Complete Jewish Study Bible.
Pray Consistently
Prayer is simply talking with Jesus about any and everything. You can pray on your knees. You can pray in your closet. You can pray in the car. You can pray on the school bus. You can pray at work. Wherever you are, Jesus is all around. But…I must admit, praying in my closet or at least not around distractions, has helped me to hear God. It is good to talk to Jesus, but even better to listen to Jesus.
You don't have to have the perfect words or pray for a certain length of time. You don't have to keep saying the same things over and over or louder and louder. Trust me, He hears you. Whatever is on your mind, He already knows. Just simply open up and invite Him in. Are you angry? Tell Him. Do you want to cry? Let those tears flow. Are you confused? Ask Him for clarity and understanding.
You don't have any words? Let the Holy Spirit speak for you. You don't know what to say? You can say the prayer that Jesus taught His disciples in Matthew 6:9-13. This prayer alone holds much power.
Don't feel shy, ashamed or embarrassed. He knows you better than you know yourself. God is full of Grace, Love and Mercy.
Love God
In the Book of Mark 12:28-31, one of the teachers of the law asked Jesus, what commandment was most important. Jesus’ response…
And thou shalt love the Lord our God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength. This is the first commandment. And the second is like. Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.
Mark 12-30-31 KJV
But how to love God?
You have to do more than say that you love Him. You have to show Him by your actions.
You can love Him by being obedient to His Word. Open your Bibles and study how to live life as a child of God. You can love Him by serving. Serving in your household, neighborhood, workplace, community, church is just some of these places you can serve at. Also, giving and donating is good ways to serve. You can love Him by being devoted in prayer. When you truly love someone, you’ll make time for good constant communication. Spend time with Him in prayer. You can love Him by loving others. If you don’t know how to love, just ask God for help. Also, check out my blog post on how to love.
Love Your Neighbor
We ourselves love now because he loved us first. If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar. For if a person does not love his brother, whom he has seen, then he cannot love God, whom he has seen. Yes, this the command we have from him: whoever loves God must love his brother too.
1 John 4:19-21 The Complete Jewish Study Bible
Walk in Obedience
Whatever God is telling you to do, just do it. He will guide your steps along the way. It is for a greater purpose.
Involve Him in Your Everyday Life
We need the Holy Spirit daily. You can involve Him in any and everything from school, work, plans, hobbies, friends, relationships, marriage, kids to fears, worries, problems, insecurities. I have even talked to him about my eyebrows! Lol welp if it’s on my mind, it is on his too!
There is a saying, “another day another dollar”. Well for some people it is “a new day a new devil. But….we can overcome Satan and his tactics by having a close relationship with God.
Thank you all for reading and I do hope this has helped someone.
If you want to start a new life with Jesus, today is the day. Don’t try to get yourself “right” before you come to Jesus. He is wanting to meet you right where you are. In all of your brokenness, imperfections, issues, problems etc., He will make you complete with peace, grace and love.

Yes you are so right! When you have a relationship with God, you look forward to spending time in the Word and in turn, you will start to understand it.

Another great blog, I need to get closer to God, because I see myself just staying angry all the time and I just hate going to work..

Perception is Key. You may hate going to work but turn that negative into a positive. Thank God you can get up and dress yourself for work, you have your own vehicle, you have shelter for your family. Life isn’t all bad especially when you point out all you have and give God praises. But, if your job is pure toxic, you always have the choice to apply elsewhere. Life is all about making choices daily. Will you choose joy, peace and love? If so, all three comes from Jesus. Choose Him.
