Hello my readers, sisters and brothers in Christ! We are halfway through 2020 and I just know there are some people that feel the same way that I do right now. So let me ask ya’ll who else is ready for a new year, new beginning? Who else wish they could wake up and all this would be over with? I’m sure most of you would be in agreement. Yes I get it, you’re tired, stressed, concerned, worried and just plain exhausted huh? Well let me tell ya, you don’t have to be. Jesus didn’t say, “ come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give your rest “, for nothing. He will most certainly give you rest. While you are resting, just know that God isn’t simply going to pull you out of hard times. He Will Get You Through Them.
We may be ready for a new year, but none of us know what’s to come next year or the year after. Each day we live to see, we need to be grateful, thankful, living to please God through faith and love.
I want to share a few Scriptures that have helped me in a dark time and any time that I need a reminder from the Word of God. Starting with my all-time go-to Scripture that lets me know to live day by day and never worry about what I need…
Matthew 6:31-34 “So don’t worry about these things saying, “What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear? These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and He will give you everything you need. So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today. ” This Scripture is instilled in my heart. I know that I am forever loved and cared for.
Joshua 1:9 “This is my command: Be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Psalm 46:1 “God is our refuge and strength, always ready to help in times of trouble.”
2 Corinthians 4:18 “So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
Philippians 4:6 “Don’t worry about anything; instead pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank Him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.“
I’m going to share a few thoughts and personal experiences how each of those five verses above helped me in the past and is still helping me in the present.
Matthew 6:31-34
Most of my readers that have been following my blog since day one may already know about my experience with depression. I wrote about this in my blog post >> He Will Give You Rest. For any newer readers, I will kindly update you on it. So at the end 2011, I had lost my job which was my only source of income. 2012 came around, I was fighting to get unemployment while going through my savings to stay afloat. I don’t know if any of you have had financial problems in your life but if you have, you could probably relate to my depression because it can hurt a lot when you want and need but don’t have.
I remember reading and rereading Matthew chapter 6 verses 31-34. During that time, I didn’t have enough faith. I had a lot of doubt and worry because the only thing I could see was what I didn’t have. But one day that scripture stuck with me. One day I started saying “God I know you’re going to make a way in the name of Jesus”. I stopped saying “God where are you? Why are you letting me go through this? Do you love me? If you love me, why are making me go through this pain?
Boy was I wrong. God was always there. He always loved me. He was never the problem. I was. My doubt was. My worry was. When I chose to enter into His rest and let Him take control, Matthew 6:31-34 started making sense. That season was way harder than this 2020 pandemic concerning my life. That is because I didn’t know then how much I was loved by God. I didn’t know then that He will never leave me. I thank God for his presence because it brings me stillness and peace in my everyday life and He will give you the same thing if you rely on Him.
Joshua 1:9
This Scripture brings me peace when I take on a new job, task, assignment or traveling new roads *I’m not the best driver lol* that I’m not familiar with. It reminds me that God is with me and gives me assurance that everything will be alright.
Psalm 46:1
Year 2020 has been one for the books. It has been mostly nothing but trouble but I have seen good in it as well. This Scripture lets me know that I can power my way through with the Strength of God and so can you.
2 Corinthians 4:18
This Scripture reminds me of an old church song, I know some of my readers will definitely know this, but here is goes…. I Woke Up This Morning With My Mind Stayed On Jesus oh I Woke Up This Morning With My Mind Stayed On Jesus Hallelu, Hallelu, Hallelujah. Where’s my gospel people at??
But for real, keep you mind and focus on the One who matters. This world will not bring you peace. This world will not give you rest. And this world will not and cannot save you. God sent Jesus Christ for a reason. He is for you and for me. I believe in life eternal. So while I live in this cold world and in my earthly body, I will do what this scripture says, “Don’t look at the troubles we can see; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
Philippians 4:6
This Scripture is plainly saying “why worry when you can have peace”. Jesus said in this world, we will have trouble…BUT take heart! He has overcome this world. KING JESUS
Thank you all for reading and if you can, please share my blog with others!
Be Blessed, Keep Faith, & Stay Prayerful.
