Hi everyone! So this week I want to talk about, well actually write about something that has been weighing on me lately.
When I see love ones or even strangers hurting, stressed, tired, depressed or even behaving in a way they don’t fear God, that aches my heart because I know from experience that life is better when God is in it.
Around the time I started this blog, I told my mom that “if I could only save one person, that will be enough.” God knew exactly what He was doing when He called me to this ministry. There is at least someone that needed it. There is at least someone that needs what I am about to write about today.
What inspired me to write this post was the parable of the Prodigal Son aka The Lost Son. You can find that in Luke 15:11-31. For those that are not familiar with the Bible, do not be ashamed. We are all here to learn and grow in Christ and help each other along the way. Luke is after Mark and before John in the New Testament. Matthew, Mark, Luke and John is where you will learn a great deal about Jesus’ time on earth.
The Prodigal Son
Okay back to the Prodigal Son. In this parable, Jesus was telling His disciples, tax collectors and notorious sinners about two sons and their father. The younger son wanted his share of the father’s estate before he passed away. So his father gave him what he requested. Shortly after receiving the money, the younger son moved far away and spent his money recklessly in wild living until he became broke. After he became broke, he didn’t at first go back to his father. He tried to fix his own problems, but that didn’t get him anywhere. He became so hungry and completely tired from living in his current circumstances until one great day That great day, he decided to wake up and return home to his father where he belongs.
While he was still a long way off, his father seen him coming. The father was so filled with joy, love and compassion for his lost son that he decided to throw a great feast in honor of his son that was dead (spiritually) and returned to life. He was lost and now is found.
Note: There is more to this parable including the reaction from the older son in response to his brother being celebrated by their father. It is definitely an important read.
Moral of the story is, the son strayed away from his father to chase the things of the world. But he soon realized, those things don’t last forever. But God’s Love, Mercy and Grace.
My Story
I have cried reading about the Prodigal Son and I cried writing this. That is because I see myself in this parable. I see my old self straying away from God, chasing the world. I see my old self spending money recklessly on things that I clearly didn’t need. I see my old self broke. Not only broke monetarily but also spiritually. And, I see my old self changing her ways and choosing to follow Jesus her Lord and Savior.
Thing is, I had to break because God knew there was something greater on the inside than what meets the eye. I had to break because God had a purpose for me to fulfill and in order to fulfill that purpose, I had to break away from my old self and be made new. During the time, I didn’t know what was going on but later realized that “it is in our brokenness that we are made whole”. I am forever grateful that God never turned his back on me. His love was always there. His grace was always there. When it came down to me repenting, asking God for forgiveness, His mercy was more than I could ask or deserve and it was always there.

God’s Love, Mercy and Grace is for Everyone.
Truth is, God loves us and wants all of His children to be saved. Your past mistakes and your past sins are small compared to the mercy of God. In 2 Peter 3:9 is states: “The Lord isn’t really being slow about his promise as some people think. No He is being patient for your sake. He does not want anyone to be destroyed, but wants everyone to repent”.
The hidden message in the parable of the Prodigal Son that some may not see is all about repenting. The father in the parable was so overjoyed that he threw a great feast. Just imagine how Our Father in Heaven may feel when His child “wake up” and come running back to Him confessing and repenting. He will not just throw a feast, but He has something much greater for those wanting His love and is willing to obey.
This world we live in is temporary. It is not our home. God has promised new heavens and a new world for His believers. See Scripture below:
Since everything around us is going to be destroyed like this, what holy and godly lives you should live, looking forward to the day of God and hurrying it along. On that day he will set the heavens on fire, and the elements will melt away in the flames. But we are looking forward to the new heavens and new earth he has promised, a world filled with God righteousness.
2 Peter 3:11-13 NLT
In the beginning of this post, I mentioned about my heart aches when I see love ones and even strangers living ungodly because we are indeed living in our last days. There have been many deaths this year alone including many from the younger generation. No one is promised to see the next day. So I want you to know that it does not matter how terrible your mistakes were are how bad your sin was or is now, only thing matters is that God wants His child back. He wants you to receive all that He has promised including eternal life. Who wouldn’t want to live in a world where it will be all love, peace and happiness?
As long as there is breath in your body, there is time. Time for you to go to God and ask for forgiveness and receive His Son Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Not only receive Him but change your ways and follow Him. If you are unsure about anything, talk to God. He will clearly point out what is wrong that you need to change. If you think that He will not forgive you, let me reassure you that He is waiting on you to come home. You are His child and He loves you dearly.
Thank you all for reading and I hope there was at least one person, hopefully more, that will take this post to heart and receive their free gift of salvation. Choose not to take more time that you may not have for granted.
Love and Blessings, Girl On A Mission
But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. (It is only by God’s grace that you have been saved!)
