Hey everyone, welcome back to my blog! Today’s post will be something that is very important and in fact, God and I recently had a conversation regarding this topic. We talked on “keeping my mind on things above, not on earthly things”.
This came about in conversation recently because I started noticing that I wasn’t spending much quality time with God this past month of November. That particular month was Black Friday month, and the majority of stores were having sales. When I wasn’t at work, I was spending a good amount of time browsing online stores. Not just for me, but mainly Christmas gifts for others.
I started to feel somewhat disconnected from Jesus. I started missing the intimate connection that we share. That is when God told me, “You are too focused on things of this world. You need to set your mind on what’s above”.
How many can relate to this? When you are too fixated on material things, the news, your problems etc., do you still have a close connection with Jesus? It is very hard if not impossible to be in close relationship with Jesus while your mind is always on everything else.
Keep reading to learn how material things, the news and your problems can affect your relationship with Jesus if you are making those things your primary concern.
When Shopping Becomes an Idol.
My my my, this one I know all too well. A few years back, I used to shop every week online and in store. I hate to admit, but during that time, clothes and shoes were my idol. My focus was on material things more than it was on Jesus. I didn’t know it back then, but now since walking with Christ, His light has shown my problem for what it truly was, and I was taught a great lesson. Note: Since then, my money management has gotten so much better, and I am now mindful of what I spend my money on.
Fast forward to November of this year. Although I didn’t waste a lot of money, what I did waste was time. Time with Jesus. Time in devotion. Time in prayer. Time in fasting. Time being still in His Presence.
I was so fixated on buying for my loved ones and even a few things for myself, that I would catch myself obsessing over these websites by checking for sales consistently and just browsing these websites for a good amount of time a day.
A few weeks past and I noticed that I have not been feeling Jesus’ presence around me. I immediately went to God in prayer asking for help and forgiveness. That is when He told me “You are too focused on things of this world. You need to set your sight on what’s above”.
Note: It’s not that God doesn’t want us to ever buy anything, but He doesn’t want us spending time with these things more than Him. He doesn’t want these things becoming our master. Whatever you focus on more, whatever you admire more, whatever you desire more, whatever you lean on for joy, peace and satisfaction more…is your master.
When News Is Giving You the Blues.
One thing I know for sure is that the news gives you the blues indeed. What does that mean? By consistently watching the news and so focused on what the media says, it makes you unhappy, joyless and even depressed.
It’ll make you feel like there is no hope and ask the question, “God where are you?”.
He is here. He is there. He is everywhere.
So, next time before you decide to let the media (Satan’s playground) boggle your mind, steal your joy, take your sanity, divide your family, or doubt God’s power…release how you’re feeling in the hands of Jesus.
We can’t change a thing living in hopelessness, walking around like zombies, minds confused, living in the dark etc.
We need to put on the whole Armor of God and take a stand (as He commanded) because our King is coming. Jesus is his Name.
When Your Problems Are Getting the Best of You.
Problems, who doesn’t have those? Solution, who doesn’t have one?
No matter what you are going through, it is NOT too big for God to handle. We do NOT have control of all things. But I know someone that does.
Your marriage, give it to God. Your family, give it to God. Your health, give it to God. Your kids, give it to God. Your finances, give it to God. Your concerns, give it to God. Your addiction, give it to God. Your temptations, give it to God. Your job/career, give it to God. Your goals and plans, give it to God. Your will, give it to God. Your heart, give it to God. Your life, give it to God.
Don’t become fixated on your problems because when you do, your problems began to control you. Your problems become your master, your idol.
We may have many problems, but only need one solution. JESUS
If any of you have not accepted Jesus as your Lord and Savior, you should do so now. We don’t know what tomorrow may bring or if we will even see tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation. Romans 10: v 9 states: For if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.
Call on Him today. Repent of your sins. Live for Him and be saved.
Love and Blessings, Monique ST

Another great blog, I’m always inspired when I read your blogs. When I start I just can’t finish till the end. But you know when you said don’t let things get in the way of you and god. I try so hard to change things and it all ways come back on me hard. I start reading, listening and writing down words of god and what will he do. Than something negative gets me down and I just lose it… but I will never give up on myself. And I do keep god someone if listening to Christian podcast at work now to reading a blog and book. I just hope your blogs are not just helping me but others… I have every day struggles seems like, thank you again for a wonderful blog….

Thank you sis for always reading. What you are going through is the battlefield of the mind. The three weapons you can use is the Word of God, Prayer and Praise. Get yourself in the presence of God. Invite Him in your heart, marriage and household. Also, stop letting things and people get you angry so easily. It is not worth it! Thank you again for reading and I too hope others are benefiting from my blog as well.
