Each day is a spiritual warfare. Each day is a battle for your mind. Each day, we can walk in security with the whole armor of God protecting us.
“Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.” – Ephesians 6:11-13
So what is the six pieces of God’s armor? Belt of (Truth), Breastplate of (Righteousness), Shoes of (Peace), Shield of (Faith), Helmet of (Salvation) and Sword of the Spirit (Word of God).
Belt of Truth
What is the purpose of a belt? A belt holds your pants in a tight fit, so therefore they won’t fall. If your pants are loose they may be easy to sway left and right. A belt secures the pants in place so that they won’t be out of order. If you want to walk in order, you have to walk in Truth.
When you leave home, whether it’s for work, running errands, hanging with loved ones etc., don’t leave without the Truth. Let’s rewind to before you leave home…
When you first wake up, set you mind on Christ because if you don’t, Satan will set it for you.
If you don’t have or know the Truth, you make it easy for Satan to slip right through the door and fabricate the Truth for you through the opinions of people, false doctrine, and twisting of God’s word.
The Truth is Jesus. Without Him, we could not overcome Satan’s tactics.
Jesus is the source to every other piece of the armor of God.
Jesus keeps everything in place and in order.
Breastplate of Righteousness
Ecclesiastes 7:20 states, “For there isn’t a righteous person on earth who does [only] good and never sins.
The righteousness that we need in spiritual warfare is not that of our own, but rather, the righteousness of God.
The breastplate protects our heart and soul from being corrupted by the evil one. In order to receive this piece of armor, we need to first receive the Truth (Jesus).
Satan knows that in our flesh and apart from the Lord, we are weak. We need the power of the righteousness of God to keep us secure. This security reminds me so much of Psalm 91. God instructed me to read that Scripture one night after having a night terror. He needed me to know that as long as I am close to Him, as long as I make Him my dwelling place (home, shelter), no evil will touch me.
To wear the righteousness of God, you have to be close to Him. Seek Him daily, be obedient and faithful. Be willing to walk in His will and make Him your shelter so that He can protect you wherever you go.
Shoes of Peace
We put on shoes because 9 times out of 10, we are on a mission to do something. [take out trash, drive to work, run errands, visit loved one etc.] Whatever it is, we are as the saying goes, “a man with a plan” or in some of our cases, “a woman with a plan”.
But the question is, what is God’s plan? His plan for us is salvation.
When we leave home, we should be prepared and ready to be on mission to share and teach the Good News that bring peace to those that have not yet received salvation.
“For anyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved. But how can they call on him to save them unless they believe in Him? And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him? And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them? And how will anyone go and tell them without being sent? That is what the Scriptures means when they say “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” – Romans 10: 13-15.
But before we can go run and share this good news, we ourselves need to get our shoes rooted and planted in the Word of God, walk in His righteousness and then go share what the Lord has done for us so that someone else can receive this glorious peace as well.
You may wonder, why do we need this peace to protect us?
Well if you are not confident in God and in His unfailing love for you, you make yourself an easy target to get wounded in battle.
The peace of God , which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:7
Shield of Faith
Unexpected things come up, marriage is on the rocks, there is more month than money, teens acting out, tomorrow is unknown, car is acting up, problems on the job, hard to find a job, health is at risk etc.
I get it, life can be tough. Been there, done that and still doing it. How am I doing it? With Jesus.
You have to make up your mind and choose who you are going to serve. Are you going to live in fear of the unknown, fear of not having enough, fear of not being enough or are you going to live in faith? The faith that knows who controls tomorrow and chooses to trust God (Psalm 31:15). The faith that knows the good Lord is your shepherd that supplies all of your needs (Psalm 23). The faith that knows your are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and a people for his own possession (1 Peter 2:9).
Block the fiery arrows of the Adversary (Satan) by not getting caught off guard. Always be on guard when you first wake up by choosing to walk boldly in the faith that comes from God.
Make sure that you stay in the Word and prayer to keep that faith even when you don’t understand what is going on around you or why you’re going through certain things.
Helmet of Salvation
The purpose of wearing a helmet is to protect the head, mainly from brain damage. A spiritual helmet protects the mind. When you give Satan access to your mind, he will be able to control it, thus results in him controlling your life.
But the Good News is, Jesus came to give you life and give it to the full.
When you wear the helmet of salvation, the Adversary won’t be able to control your mind. Salvation is deliverance from slavery. Salvation saves you from being a slave to sin, slave to worry, fear, anxiousness, depression and any thing that Satan tries to hold you down with.
Jesus is here to break those chains and set you free.
When you repent and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, you will receive the Holy Spirit. When you walk in the Spirit and let it control you, you will produce the fruit of the Holy Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
You should not want to be without this piece of armor. Everyday is a battle for your mind. Set your mind when you arise for the day or the Adversary will set it for you.
Sword of the Spirit
When Jesus was in the wilderness, Satan tested him more than once and every time he tested Him, Christ came back with the Word of God shutting him down.
“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread”. Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘ Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. – Matthew 4:3-4
Any time Satan tries to twist God’s Word on you, tries to get you to test God or even offer you many things if you would just bow down and worship him…be like Jesus and hit him with the Word of God.
It is very important in this day and age to read and study the Bible because we have many false prophets that are twisting God’s word for their on pleasure and is not teaching the correct Gospel which is the Good News. We also have the evil one filling our minds with nonsense and making our bodies respond with worry, stress and fear.
The Bible is a book of solutions and you are going to need it to guard your mind, body and soul.

Wow! That is amazing. Usually when I get the same or similar message, I just know it is meant for me. We all need to be walking with the armor of God daily. Sometimes I have let my guard down, but I am definitely a work in progress on this journey.
